Talk:PIRT
From CastleCopsWiki
It is about time! I've been trying to wage this war privately myself by tracing the IP of the source Phising site and then attempting to contact the Owner of the I.P. address range or the Domain Name the site is being hosted from.
The security nay-sayers who claim a grass roots effort to throw the scammers out won't be successful because 'there's no money in it' haven't got a clue.
The internet community is ready to take the web BACK, and I'll gladly be on the front lines!
Thank you SO much.
I sign off with a few closing thoughts from men far more educated and far more eloquent than I:
"If Ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We Ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand which feeds you. May Your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that Ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
"If you will not fight for the right, when you can easily win without bloodshed. If you will not fight when your victory will be sure, and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight, with all the odds against you, and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight, when there is no chance of victory. Because it is better to perish, than to live as slaves." - Winston Churchill
Truely, phishing is not the scourage that Tyranny is, but it IS high time to take the fight to those who have fired the first shots, and not stand passively by, hoping that we're clever enough to not fall for one ourselves, or watch as our friends, family members, co-workers and neighbors fall prey because they know less than we, while we stand by and let it happen.
Let PIRT be the community to fire the 'Shot heard round the world'
Sincerely, Revolutn
- Thank you User:Revolutn, that was beautiful. --Paul 23:01, 1 April 2006 (EST)

[edit] A note on a minor grammatical error
Since it is not possible to edit the original article itself (i.e. it's somehow "locked"), I will then let you all know about a grammar-related mistake that I've discovered yesterday right here in the "Talk/Discuss" Talk:PIRT page:
Quote:
Here are a list of news articles that have been written about Project PIRT with the first being a C|Net Exclusive breaking headline story:
You see, in my opinion it should be "Here is a list" or "Here are lists" instead of "Here are a list" as it is now.

- You are absolutely right, Satyr-wayfarer, and it is now corrected.--Negster22 21:34, 10 April 2006 (EDT)
[edit] needs more info for (potential?) feed users?
http://www.castlecops.com/article6619.html links to this page, but has no info about the xml feed, or how to subscribe to it. Why? --Brewt 17:05, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
[edit] handler --> PIRT handler
minor suggestion I was unable to implement:
Post your interest to become a handler here. --> Post your interest to become a PIRT squad handler here.
[edit] Log in to submit phish? Not necessary, but I'm proud to submit while cookied
I've submitted a couple dozen phish, so phar, over the past couple of years without logging in.
Yesterday, I noticed that the top 15 members who submit the most phish are being acknowledged on the "Top Fifteen Submitters This Month" list. The top submitter is "Anonymous."
Instead of contributing to "Anonymous," you can compete for a place on the Top Fifteen by logging in to Castlecops before submitting your phish.
After 7 years of learning to tighten the security on my computer, I'm willing to take [and keep] Castlecop's cookie to remain logged in. That will make it less trouble to get my credit when I submit phish.
Maybe if my submissions are not anonymous, it will be of some help to Castlecops, too.
Thanks.
