Talk:Online malware scans - Comparison
From CastleCopsWiki
Should I add the other antispyware online scans from http://wiki.castlecops.com/Lists_of_freeware_antispyware ? Some are pretty weak and can barely count as a scan.
Any other attributes of the online scanner you are interested in?
I'm considering approx speed, but that is pretty subjective and varies a lot depending on multiple factors.

- IMO this article covers all the well known ones. If any others strike you as promising, it would be good to have them highlighted.
- As to other attributes, I'd say confine comparisons to key points to avoid folks from diverting to tangental issues.
- Great work BTW ... and an interesting challenge you present to all CastleCops "experts". ;)

- My bad, most of you claim to be "professionals" only. --LU 10:07, 6 January 2007 (EST)
- I beg your pardon to make a minor point: CC seems to attract the experts and professionals; if the folks that contribute here make such claims it's not surprising since that sort of crowd hangs out here. ;) --Ikester 00:29, 9 January 2007 (EST)
- Well you started with the quotes ("experts") business so don't start with me.... :) --LU 12:42, 9 January 2007 (EST)

- lol Uncle! I just didn't want to presume they were experts in your view. I still say that your work here deserves the attention of the folks that frequent CC. I hope that others do critique your work. --Ikester 23:23, 9 January 2007 (EST)
- Very nice work indeed! With the tabular data and screenshots that are included it goes beyond a simple compilation of links.

Is there any reason why this isn't tagged with the beta template? --LU 22:03, 23 February 2007 (EST)
[edit] Form submissions and replies through email
I really should differentiate between "online scans" that upload samples via email or forms but get replies back via email (automated or not) ....
Many online scans (most of the spyware ones) really make you download and run an executable locally, not sure if it is really that different from running activex controls through the browser. If those count as online scans, there are lots more of online scanners... Basically tons of standalone exes.--LU 04:01, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

[edit] image is table problem AGAIN
Adding [[Image:Eset.PNG | 100 px]] into table blows up the page. Same problem i guess encountered several times. --LU 23:57, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
- Yup. It seems this only happens with some PNG files. It's being investigated. --Ikester 08:12, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
- So if i replaced it with gif files it will be okay? --LU 09:11, 3 January 2008 (EST)
- That's my understanding. ... and this reminds me that this problem is outstanding. I've added a section at the Current Events page. --Ikester 18:48, 3 January 2008 (EST)

Now i can't even update existing images!!! I just upload blanks..--LU 04:47, 19 April 2008 (EDT)
- I'll see about getting some back-end attention to this issue. Anything special about those pics? I notice that one is displayable. --Ikester 11:24, 19 April 2008 (EDT)
