[edit] Changes
The former main iDownload index page was removed. The template pretty much performs that function anyway.

[edit] Gay pornographic website reference
You wrote:

He's a bad guy. Running a pornographic website is not a good character reference. I hope the courts recognize that harassing every computer-security organization in existence is further evidence of obsessive behavior.
However, specifying that the site is gay does nothing to add to the evidence, or your argument. For instance, is gay pornography worse than straight pornography? They are both perverted sores on our society; to say one is worse suggests that one is better. In fact, neither is better. The gay thing is a detail that has no significance, and might tend to confuse or cause loss of credibility to what otherwise was a well-documented argument.
Try removing the parenthesis and the "gay" in between, and see if that makes your message more concise.
Whatever you ultimately decide, you may then remove my comment.

If you feel the wording doesn't reflect the situation, please feel free to reword appropriately. --Ikester 22:56, 30 December 2006 (EST)
We may be removing the reference to gay, we have been contacted by Mr. Gilbert, and I'm waiting to find out if he wants that reference removed. The rest of the content in this article will remain --Robin 10:57, 21 December 2007 (EST)
I find use of the word "gay" in your article to be offensive. First, I don't think it matters that he is running a pornographic website. Big deal; what does that have to do with this article? The only purpose it could possibly serve is to try and damage his reputation, which means your use of this sentence is meant to be disparaging toward him. If that is the case, then you must feel that adding the word gay makes him sound even more disparaging. Thus the reason why I believe its use is offensive and should be removed!

[edit] I Can't Get Help Here, Apparently
I came to CastleCops to get help with a computer that is at times very slow, loads (likely) unneeded programs at start up, and has had a few other problems I can't fix. --Markram 15:58, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
- Have you tried our forums? CastleCopsWiki provides some support documentation but at the forums you can get some free advice that might well prove more valuable.--Ikester 22:51, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
When I got here I see all of the controversy around iDownload and the back-and-forth regarding Arlo Gilbert. --Markram 15:58, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
- You realize of course that this is old news. The article here is a record of the facts and events that occurred at the time. --Ikester 22:51, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
After reading as much as I could, I have to say that in my opinion, Mr. Gilbert appears to be wrong; even worse, he is attempting to intimidate legitimate businesses and others through litigation - this is my opinion, based on what I've read, including his own attorney's communication.
However, why is it considered OK to make ad hominem attacks based on homophobia and the "red flag" of pornography? History, our modern experience, and science show that homosexuality is a normal human condition, in spite of attempts to degrade it, suppress it, heal it, and kill it for at least 2,000 years. And, whether you are pro- or anti-pornography, most of it is legal, and has been around, as far as we know, since the cave painters, and likely before in Egyptian, Sumerian, and Greek art, just to name a few. And yes, a large percentage of Americans regularly look at it, buy it, and like it.
So if Mr. Gilbert is a jerk or a bad guy, there should be plenty of evidence of that without resorting to writing like:
"Wait, what's this? Arlo Gilbert (AKA Hooper), CEO of iDownload, is a webmaster of a pornographic (gay) site?"
Recommended changes: delete the sentence above in the original text.
This is cheap, uncalled for, and biased, and is appealing to the biases, fears, and hatred of the readers, rather than making a legitimate argument of right or wrong. If you really are here to help people with their computer issues, and there as lots of us out here, remove the impediments on your web page.
