[edit] Assistance with Wiki markup
Unfortunately wiki markup codes (i.e. 'tags') a) are not the same as phpBB codes and b) there is no universal wiki markup standard. This could be confusing however wiki markup is mostly straightforward and there are aids available:
- CastleCopsWiki edit buttons: The top of the CastleCopWiki edit page includes several buttons which inject wiki markup at the prompt position.
- Examine existing pages: Just check out the formatting used at a page that already exists by clicking the edit tab of that page.
- MediaWiki documentation: The MediaWiki Editor Handbook covers a lot of ground but markup codes are not referenced in one place.
- WikiPedia documentation: The How to Edit a Page: Wiki markup table and following text is a comprehensive source of markups and example usage. WikiPedia markup matchs CastleCopsWiki markup behaviour.
- If using FireFox: The WikiPedia extension can assist with many less common markup codes: http://wikipedia.mozdev.org/download.html
[edit] Our Convention for Making Changes
Each wiki page has a corresponding discussion page. When adding or making changes to a page, kindly add your comments to the discussion page. These comments might typically be a summary of the changes you made and the rationale for those changes.
Also, to conclude those comments, please add your name, time and date when you posted. In the edit screen, the second button from the right will insert wiki markup characters that convert to your username as well as a time/date stamp when saving the page.

[edit] Notifications
Add {{beta}} to the top of a page when referenced at the Beta_Content page.
Replace {{beta}} with {{rfa}} at the top of a page when seeking to have the article approved for referencing at the Main Page
Add {{Next_Rev}} to an article when needing a date timestamp of the most recent date the article was revised.
[edit] Article Series Navigation
Use {{ed|<descriptor>}} to produce an edit link to a template.
[edit] Formatting Assistant
Place text in a quotation box using {{quote|[c=<colour>|][b=<bkgrd colour>|][<author name>|]<quoted text>}} with an optional author name as well as optional text colour (default is blue) and background colour (default is light yellow).
Enclosed {{color|<color>|<text>}} is given the specified colour.
Convert the {{AbbrMonth|<month number>}} to the abbreviated month.
{{replace|<value>|case:<value match1>=<replacement value1>|case:<value match2>=<replacement value2>|case:<value match3>=<replacement value3>|....|case:<value matchn>=<replacement valuen>|default=<replacement default value>}}.
[edit] Transclusion Examples
[edit] Display List with Edit Link
A {{disp lst|<ListPage_name>}} enables display of a list page using transclusion along with an edit link to that page and a link to top of the display page.
[edit] Dual Use Page Listing
One entry for a list of page names, parameter {{{1}}} in a {{{{{1}}}|<Name>}} structure would be either:
- To produce a link in the form [[Staff:1R: CR:<Name>|<Name>]] using {{LinkStaff1RCRPg|<PageName>}}
- To transclude the Staff:1R: CR:<Name> page.
A {{DispPg|<NameSpace>|<PageCategory>|<<PageName>>|<DelimitSeq>}} displays a tiered page within another using transclusion. A section header with <PageName> and the ability to edit that page and a link back to top of page are included.
