CastleCops Staff: Wiki Sysop

The CCwiki admin (sysop) duties are quite a bit different than admin duties for the forums for example. In a nutshell, sysops have to keep an eye on the wiki contents and be prepared to back out any particular user's contributions.

[edit] Becoming a sysop

Only CastleCops forum users would be eligible otherwise that person couldn't participate here. A proposed sysop need not be staff in any other CastleCop forum venue.

Any CastleCop user can be proposed by an existing sysop in a topic in the CCwiki staff forum. Objections must be voiced in that topic. Silence means consent. The working premise should be to grant this access liberally to anyone who has been an active CastleCopsWiki contributor for a while and is generally a known and trusted member of the CastleCops community.

Each distinct area of CastleCopsWiki must have at least one sysop maintaining that section. Only someone familar with the content would be in position to judge whether the wiki is degraded by any particular submission.

Users with "bureaucrat" status can turn other users into sysops (but not remove sysop status). So ultimately, bureaucrats must agree in order that a particular individual becomes a sysop.

If a sysop is inactive for a six month period, they will be considered for removal as sysop.

[edit] Maintaining the Wiki

Sysops conversant with a particular section of CastleCopsWiki should aim to agree that a submission has degraded CastleCopsWiki before taking corrective action.

The sysop who has identified a non-severe degradation should allow 24hrs for other sysops maintaining that section to respond to a post in this forum before any action is taken.

Obvious vandalism should be corrected immediately upon discovery and the event posted in the CCwiki staff forum.
