Trainees are members of the volunteer staff who are being prepared to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular group through either technical training or orientation. Trainees may be recruited from existing staff or from the membership at large depending on the role for which they are preparing. The Trainee title is always preceeded by the designation of the group for which they are training.

Trainee responsibilities, in order of priority, are as follows:

1. To prepare themselves as fully and expeditiously as possible for full group membership
   
   In the execution of this responsibility members of this group are expected to do the following:
   
   • Comport themselves in a manner consistent with the (Castlecops Vision)
     
   • Apply themselves diligently to the training process.
     
   • Perform such group functions as they have been authorized to perform under the level of supervision specified in the training process.
     
   • Seek appropriate advice from Mentors or full group members when encountering situations for which they are not yet fully prepared.
     
   • Read and keep themselves abreast of changes to the (Castlecops Vision), (AUP), forum rules, and established staff policies and procedures.
     
   • Provide constructive comments on the training process.
