CastleCops Staff: Mentor

From CastleCopsWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Mentors are members of the volunteer staff who have been selected based on their demonstrated technical competence in a particular area and are charged with the technical training, orientation, and preparation of candidates for membership in a particular group. Mentors are normally recruited from existing staff. The Mentor title is always preceeded by the designation of the group for which they conduct training.

In addition to performing all the normal duties and responsibilities inherent in their group membership Mentors perform the following additional functions:

    • Provide instruction to trainees including constructive criticism and feedback.
    • Monitor trainee progress.
    • Supervise trainee interaction with the membership at large.
    • Make recommendations for trainee advancement.
    • Prepare training materials as appropriate and necessary.
    • Provide constructive comments on the training process as a whole.

Currently First Responder trainees and Special Response Team Trainees have their own mentors. Moderator Trainees and Host trainees are mentored by the other Moderators as well as Forum Admins and Site Admins. Note that not all groups have training programs.
